PARENT DO’S & DON’TS

Parent Do’s

  • Spend time with your child and talk about their school day.
  • Be a positive role model by showing respect, honesty, and kindness.
  • Encourage independence and boost your child’s self-confidence.
  • Check school diaries, messages, and circulars regularly.
  • Attend parent–teacher meetings and school events.
  • Ensure your child follows school rules, completes homework, and comes prepared.
  • Provide a healthy routine—proper sleep, balanced food, and limited screen time.
  • Communicate openly with the school about any concerns or updates.
  • Appreciate your child’s efforts, not just achievements.
  • Practice active listening—give full attention when your child speaks.

Parent Don’ts

  • Do not compare your child with others; every child is unique.
  • Do not scold, shame, or humiliate your child in front of others.
  • Do not ignore your child’s feelings or dismiss their opinions.
  • Do not use mobile screens or gadgets as a reward or distraction.
  • Do not delay sharing important information with the school (health issues, address changes, etc.).
  • Do not burden your child with excessive expectations or pressure.
  • Do not encourage last-minute studying or incomplete homework habits.
  • Do not speak negatively about teachers or school in front of your child.
  • Do not allow irregular attendance or late waking habits.
  • Do not overlook behavioural issues—address them early with guidance.
